    NIRI San Diego to Host January Meeting
    “Effective Media Relations for Public Companies”

    SAN DIEGO, CA – Jan. 10, 2012 – The San Diego Chapter of the National Investor Relations Institute (NIRI San Diego) will be holding its monthly meeting on Thursday, January 19 and will feature industry experts that will be discussing the subject, “Effective Media Relations for Public Companies”.

    The panel will be discussing best practices for communicating with the investor community in high-profile, high stakes situations.

    The panel will include corporate and public relations communications professionals and will be moderated by investor relations and corporate communications expert, Gwen Rosenberg, vice president, investor relations and corporate communications, Senomyx, Inc.

    Speakers to include:

    - Jim Lucas, managing director, Abernathy MacGregor Group, Inc.

    - Dan Halvorson, former executive vice president and chief financial officer for DivX, Inc. (DIvX was acquired by Sonic Solutions in October 2010)

    - Business media representative

    The NIRI San Diego meeting will be held on Thursday, January 19, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Barney & Barney Conference Center, 9171 Towne Centre Drive, San Diego, CA, 92122.  Program fees are $25 for NIRI Members and $45 for non-members.

    NIRI San Diego to Host November Meeting
    “Everything You Need to Know About the New Capital Markets”

    SAN DIEGO, CA – Nov. 14, 2011 – The San Diego Chapter of the National Investor Relations Institute (NIRI San Diego) will be holding its monthly meeting on Thursday, November 17 and will feature industry experts who will be discussing the subject, “Everything You Need to Know About the New Capital Markets”.

    The panel will discuss recent changes in the capital markets and cover the major pillars that make up the capital markets.  Specific panel topics will include:

    • •·         The market structure today and how it evolved into this era of rapid change
    • •·         The important trends, such as electronic trading, dark pools, high-frequency trading and flash orders
    • •·         The migration from an “investor market” to a “trading market” and what this means for investor relations programs
    • •·         Various sources of information on how stocks are traded
    • •·         The power shift from the sell- to the buy-side and the kinds of information investors value today
    • •·         The future of sell-side research
    • •·         Insight into the current and future trends in research, such as expert networks and peer-to-peer research.

    SAN DIEGO, Aug. 31, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The San Diego Chapter of the National Investor Relations Institute (NIRI San Diego) will be hosting an expert panel discussion titled "Improper Disclosure to Analysts – The Office Depot Case" at the chapter's September 15 meeting. The panel will discuss the recent sanctioning by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) of Office Depot for selective disclosure practices. The discussion will focus on an examination of the SEC enforcement charges against Office Depot including what events triggered the investigation. In addition, real-time Reg FD scenarios will be reviewed to determine how to avoid violating Regulation FD rules when engaging in investor and analyst discussions.

    Attendees will learn what information can and cannot be discussed with analysts and investors, particularly as it relates to earnings estimates and guidance and how to identify when a pre-release of earnings is required. Additionally, the panel will present what steps should be taken to help company executives avoid the pitfalls of discussing non-public information with analysts and investors and how to identify situations where they need to take action to avoid an SEC enforcement action.
